FNQ Blooms offers accommodation and food for volunteer labor. To register go to Wwoofing Australia volunteers if you are not a member see WWOOF Australia | WWOOF – Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms
FNQ Blooms is a Tropical flower farm with 15 acres under plant and new plantings every year between September and February. We harvest flowers every Thursday and Friday. We all so have a vanilla orchid growing in 150 mt shade house
We ask volunteers to work for 5 to 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. Work starts around 6.30 or 7.30 in the morning and finishes about 1 to 2 in the afternoon with 40 mins breakfast break at 9 or 10 am. The work is constant with that of Farm hand Duties.
The work is generally quite varied. We harvest every Friday so preparing and packing for flower sales are all part of the work, other days you could be weeding or pruning flower rows.
Our Travelers have become part of our family and are welcome to participate in social events like BBQS, meals with friends. I welcome all our travellers to cook meals from their home country as well as showing them how to cook true Aussie meals.
If you have any special talents we love to know about them.
Meals are usually cooked together. We are big meat eaters, so vegetarians can improvise or take charge of cooking and create some fantastic vegetarian meals to impress your host.
Travelers are welcome to come shopping for weekly grocery’.
It is preferred that travellers stay a minimum of 4 weeks. This amount of time is needed for travellers to settle in to our family and learn about the jobs to be done.
Accommodation is a large bedroom with king size bed, desk. Travelers have access to Wifi, bathroom is shared.
Having a car is an advantageous but not necessary. The closest town is 8km away Miriwinni. We are 1 hour away from Cairns’s city, 25 mins to Innisfail town
