Heliconia House is a charming historic Queenslander and was formally a schoolhouse.

FNQ Blooms is a commercial Tropical Flower Farm. We send our stunning tropical flowers all over Australia to flower markets and florists. Enjoy the blooms while on your stay. Theproperty operates ‘OFF THE GRID’.

Our Guest House is a place to reconnect with the diverse nature of the rain forest by taking a walk to feed the fish at your private waterfall. Be amazed by the magical birdlife, butterflies and other visiting wildlife on the farm. Alternately just relax watching the world go with a good book and a wine on the balcony which overlooks the farm. Enjoy the peaceful rainforest views.

Why not do some exploring of the area? It’s a must! We have so many ‘treasures’ just a short distance from the farm.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Mt Bartle Frere sits in Wooranooran National Park, it is Queensland’s tallest Mountain and at it’s base is spectacular Josephine Falls which is one of the Top Tourist spots to visit in North Queensland. It is just 5 minutes away. There is also a walking track to the top of the mountain. This track is 25kms long and more suited to the avid adventurer, or a 10min walk to arguably the best rock side and swimming hole in North Queensland.

 Just 20min up the road is the town of Babinda, home to the Babinda Boulders andother gouges and swimming holes. Babinda is a small, quaint sugar processing town with all the shops you need to stock up for your stay.

Eubenanqee Swamp Wetland Walk is 15 minutes away. This wetland is one of your hosts favorite spots to sight crocodiles in the wild, if that’s your thing. Very ‘important’ bird area. The 1.5 kl walk comprises of lovely lagoons and swamps. Bring your binoculars as the view from the top of the hill looking back over the swamp and mountains is breathtaking on a clear sunny day.

Bramston Beach Is our closest beach which is 30mins away. You can walk along the white sand of this unspoiled beach collecting shells. Stop off for fish and chips at the local shop or put your boat in at the boat ramp to fish in the creek. Alternately just fish of the beach.

Heading NORTH Deeral offers the Frankland Islands, a cluster of pristine National Park Islands which is 30min north on the Bruce hwy. A boat tour/cruise leaves every day to take you to this amazing group of islands. Snorkeling and diving is possible there off the beach. Seeing the Great Barrier Reef with turtles and Clown Fish, (NEMO) within meters of the beach is amazing. It’s great not having to spending hours getting out to the reef. This allows you to spend more time exploring the island and snorkeling for around 4.5 hours.

 Behana Gorge is 40min up the highway and is yet another beautiful crystal clear mountain swimming hole to enjoy. This is a 3.2 km walk into Clamshell falls. The walk is full of open Eucalypt forest changing to rainforest ferns. This is part of ‘The Great Green Way.

The town of Innisfail is known as a banana and sugar town and is a ‘noted Art Deco town’. It sits on the Johnson river. Innisfail is 25mins from you, so you can stock up at the major supermarkets here.

Snapping Tours at Innisfail wharf is a locally owned family business offering boat cruises along Innisfail’s Johnson River. This is great for spotting local wild life such as Crocodiles.

Etty Bay 32 mins away is a little cove beach where you can see the local Cassowary walk along the beach and into the park looking for food. You must be there around 9 am to see them.

 Australian Sugar Heritage Centre is at Mourilyan just on your way to Etty Bay. The Centre is a museum where you can experience the drama and heritage of the sugar cane industry and see how sugar is produced. The displays are history in the making of our area.

Paronella Park 40 mins away, is one the top tourist places to visit in North Queensland. Paronella Park has a ’Romantic’ history. It is ruins of a Spanish castle set on a picturesque 5-hectare park next to Mena Creek Falls. It was Queensland’s first privately owned hydro electric plant built back in 1933. It offers a unique view into one mans dream to build a Castle and open it up to everyone.
